At Temple Israel, all students in the 4th grade (and occasionally third grade students) are ready to begin their formal Hebrew education. The first year of Hebrew is spent learning the alef-bet, building vocabulary and beginning to recognize the roots of many Hebrew verbs and words. They will even learn very simple prayers and begin to be familiar with the siddur.
In our Levels two and three classes, the students begin to look at the different parts of the worship services in preparation for their B Mitzvah (bar or bat mitzvah) training. Each year has a different focus in the Siddur.
All Hebrew classes will be taught by Only our rabbi or another qualified Hebrew teacher teaches Hebrew.
