Rabbi Phil Cohen received his rabbinic ordination from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion from its New York City campus. He received his Ph.D. from Brandeis University, with a specialty in Jewish thought. In his career he has served as a college professor, a Jewish educator, a Hillel director and a pulpit rabbi. His interests include theology, bioethics, Bible, and writing fiction. He also has a love of film.
He is married to Betsy Gamburg, who holds an MSW from the University of Pennsylvania and is currently the director of Jewish Family Services in Greensboro, NC.
Betsy and Phil are the parents of two daughters, Elly and Talia. Elly is pursuing a Ph.D. in International Education at the University of Minnesota, and Talia is a pastry chef in Chicago.
