Welcome to Temple Israel!
Temple Israel is a vibrant congregation of approximately 145 families.  Founded in 1849, we have a rich history extending over 150 years.  We are also a founding member of the Union for Reform Judaism.  Temple Israel has a diverse membership representing all segments of the Jewish community.

Our Mission
On April 27, 1849, in Lafayette, Indiana, we, a group of Jewish men and women, banded together for worship of one God and the teaching of Israel's moral law.  With the leadership of our rabbi, it is our sacred task to carry on a tradition that is 3,000 years old, to practice our religion and to teach it to one another, to our children, and to the community.
